What I Lost and Want Back

The day my hard drive died

Preparing my final exam in Media Science included my chosen topic “David Lynch and Postmodernism”. I really indulged in finding new clues or associations when watching all his movies. One evening I had a beer whilst writing down all my thoughts and ideas on events and characters in Mulholland Drive with a transfer the concepts of Postmodernism. I had thousands of epiphanies, writing on and on. About the difference of Rita’s nail polish and hair compared to Betty’s pastel appearance. About dreams, realities, originals and copies. Page after page.

And that’s all I remember after 4 years now. A short time after my exam my hard drive gave up irretrievably. And I didn’t even email my documents or print them.

Often, I wanted to reread my ideas, though written with the help of a beer, I think they were quite something.

It wouldn’t be the same consulting my books on Postmodernism, having a beer and diving into the movie again.
